"Mules on a Mission" Create Homecoming Excitement

WARRENSBURG, MO (Oct. 20, 2008) – UCM celebrates “Mules on a Mission” during the 2008 Homecoming celebration Oct. 24-25 as friends and alumni join the UCM students and staff in a variety of activities.
From the Homecoming Pep Rally to the post-game Mule Train wrap-up, the campus and the Warrensburg community will join forces for a full weekend of events. Saturday’s festivities kick off with the annual Homecoming parade at 9 a.m., followed by the Mule Train pre-game tailgate and the Alumni and Friends pre-game lunch.
Homecoming Finalists and Jennies Volleyball
The UCM Homecoming royalty finalists will be announced Friday evening at the pep rally planned for 5:30 p.m. in Walton Stadium, followed by the Jennies volleyball game against Missouri Southern at 7 p.m. in the Multipurpose Building.
Curious George Joins in the Fun
KMOS-TV has received word that Curious George and The Man in the Yellow Hat, popular PBS children’s program characters, will join the fun Saturday. The Man in the Yellow Hat will greet parade-goers, and Curious George will join him afterward to meet children and the families in the Smiser Alumni Center. Be sure to bring you camera!
Mules and Jennies Compete
Football pregame activities for the Mules football game will begin at 1 p.m., and the annual Homecoming football game starts at 1:30 p.m. on the Vernon Kennedy Field in Audrey J. Walton Stadium as the Mules take on the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks. Halftime activities include the introduction of the 2008 Distinguished Alumni, the crowning of the 2008 Homecoming royalty and performances by the Marching Mules and alumni band.
The Postgame Scoreboard Show is planned for 5:30 p.m. at Fitter's Pub in downtown Warrensburg.
Alumnus Dennis Yates Hosts Exhibit
As a special event for the 2008 Homecoming, professional artist and UCM alumnus Dennis Yates will host an exhibit of his work from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, and 8-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 in Elliott Union 219.
Anniversaries and Reunions for Everyone
Homecoming is a time for returning to campus and renewing old friendships. Among the many reunions and gathering scheduled for Homecoming weekend are the 40 anniverary of the UCM Department of Aviation and the 50th anniversary of The Honors College.
