"Piano Americana" Concert Part of "New Harmonies" Exhibit

WARRENSBURG, MO (Oct. 26, 2009) - The UCM Department of Music and Warrensburg Friends of Music present "Piano Americana: An Evening with Mia Hynes and Friends" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 27 in Hart Recital Hall.
The concert is part of the Johnson County Historical Society - Smithsonian Institution’s "New Harmonies: American Roots Music" event that runs throughout the month of October.
Hynes, professor of music pedagogy at UCM, will be joined by UCM faculty singers David Adams and Jacob Sentgeorge, as well as her husband, pianist Jon Hynes, for an evening of piano music and song celebrating classic tunes and genres of early 20th century America.
The program will include honky-tonk blues, ragtime, classic spirituals, Tin Pan Alley, Insurance-Salesman-Reads-Book-and-Channels-Beethoven, and music from Appalachian Spring, Rhapsody in Blue, and The Wizard of Oz.
The concert is free and the public is invited to attend.
