KMOS-TV Hosts Annual Kids Day |
Contact: Mike Greife
WARRENSBURG - 05/29/2007 -
KMOS-TV, UCM's public broadcasting station, will host its 7th annual KMOS-TV Kids Day from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 16, at the Moberly Area Community College Activity Center.
Free Family Event Promotes Literacy
Kids Day is a free, family-oriented, literacy-based event open to the public. The event has grown each year, reaching families throughout the 35-county KMOS-TV viewing area. It is anticipated that 800 to 1,000 people will participate in this year’s event.
Many Organizations and Individuals Will Participate
KMOS-TV Kids Day provides a free forum for Moberly and area communities to reach families with information relevant to children. Many organizations, agencies and churches will participate, giving parents and grandparents the opportunity to spend meaningful time with their children, creating lasting memories.
Meet Your Favorite PBS Friends
Families are encouraged to bring their cameras for photos with PBS Kids friends, Curious George, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Jay Jay the Jetplane and special guest, Miss Lori.
“Kids Day exemplifies what we are about -- kids, families and the enjoyment of life-long learning,” said Don Peterson, UCM director of Broadcasting Services.
Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are needed to assist with the advance set up of the event from 1-4 p.m. June 15 and to distribute marketing materials locally. Assistance also is needed with booth activities during the event June 16; to distribute books, door prizes and resource materials; and to help with clean up from noon to 1 p.m. June 16.
To volunteer, contact the Randolph Area YMCA in Moberly at 660-263-3600. For more information on KMOS-TV Kids Day, contact KMOS-TV at 660-543-4155.
