KMOS-TV Call-In Program Offers Answers to College Admissions Questions

WARRENSBURG, MO (Feb. 7, 2011) – Questions about financial assistance, admission applications and academic requirements can make the college application process a daunting task. Students and parents dealing with the transition from high school to higher education can talk to experts about college financial aid and admissions when the live, call-in program “KMOS Live: Countdown to UCM” airs at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10 on KMOS-TV, channel 6.1, the University of Central Missouri’s public broadcasting station.
Rosemary Olas, KMOS education and outreach manager, will lead the panel discussion. Viewers can call 1-800-753-3436 toll-free across the state, or they may submit questions by email to firstname.lastname@example.org in advance or during the program.
The “Countdown to UCM” panel will include staff members from the UCM Office of Admissions and UCM Office of Student Financial Assistance. The panelists are:
- Anna Fligge, coordinator of student loans and outreach at UCM. In addition to her duties as loan coordinator, Anna is a past president of the Missouri Association of Student Aid Personnel.
- Melissa Ingram, assistant director of admissions at UCM. Melissa has worked in admissions for 10 years and specializes in working with students making the transition from community college or another university.
- Grant Schmidt, admissions representative at UCM. For the past four years, Grant has recruited prospective students, primarily from the St. Louis area.
- Deborah Turnbow, scholarship coordinator for UCM. Debbie administers UCM’s scholarship program and oversees distribution of state-funded assistance, such as the Bright Flight Scholarship, to qualifying students.
