WARRENSBURG, MO (July 28, 2008) - The possibility of inclement weather has brought about the relocation of the annual President's Lawn Concert from the lawn of Selmo Park, 518 S. Holden St., to the atrium of the Elliott Union, located directly east of Selmo Park across Holden Street.
University of Central Missouri President Aaron Podolefsky and Ms. Ronnie Podolefsky are hosting the annual event this evening, Monday, July 28. UCM administrators will begin serving ice cream and cookies, beginning at 7 p.m. The Warrensburg Community Band, under the direction of Russell Coleman, will offer the finale of its 2008 summer season with the annual Lawn Concert, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Guest conductor for the concert will be David Stagg, professor of music at UCM.
The program will open with the national anthem, followed by "Overture on an Early American Folk Hymn" and a variety of selections from the musical, "Wicked."
Jeff Imboden is the featured vocal soloist for a medley of selections from "The Music Man," and the band's traditional rousing rendition of "The Stars and Stripes Forever" closes the program.
The concert is free and open to the public, and seating is provided.
