Campus, Community Leaders Recognized

Campus, community and corporate leaders were recognized for their leadership and service during the University of Central Missouri's annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration.
University, Chamber of Commerce Join in Announcing Awards
UCM joined the Greater Warrensburg Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center in presentation of the 2007 Community Service Awards at the chamber's monthly luncheon Wednesday, Jan. 10.
Leadership Award
Beth Rutt and the Rev. Dennis Schaab, both of Warrensburg, received the 2007 Leadership Award. As UCM's director of campus activities, Rutt long has provided support for UCM's Community Engagement initiatives, including the annual Summer Bridge program. Schaab, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warrensburg, was recognized for his 10 years of leadership in developing housing opportunities for the underprivileged.
Robbie Robinson Service Award
Delia Gillis and Kathy Ray-Smith received the 2007 Robbie Robinson Service Award. Gillis is a UCM associate professor of history and coordinator of UCM's Africana Studies Program. A regional ombudsman director for Care Connection in Warrensburg, Smith is a longtime member and past president of the Johnson County United Way board of directors and serves on the Salvation Army board of directors in Johnson County.
Humanitarian Award
The 2007 Humanitarian Award was presented to the Rev. Stephanie Moore, Penny Roberts and Julie Wohletz, all of Warrensburg. Moore, pastor of the Wesley Foundation, the UCM campus ministry of the Warrensburg First United Methodist Church, is being recognized for her work with student mission trips. Roberts and Wohletz are being recognized for their work with the Angel Food Ministries of the Warrensburg First Church of the Nazarene.
