WARRENSBURG, MO (Feb. 11, 2011) - In a first-time scholarship benefit performance, Edward See, chair emeritus of the University of Central Missouri Department of Theatre, and Janet Ulrich Brooks, UCM theatre alumna and current stage and film actress in Chicago, will perform in a one-night only production of A.R. Gurney’s Love Letters at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, in the James L. Highlander Theatre.
Under the direction of John Wilson, professor of theatre, See and Brooks bring their veteran talents to the Highlander stage as they present the story tracing the lifelong correspondence of the by-the-book lawyer and congressman, Andrew Makepeace Ladd III, and the lively, unstable artist, Melissa Gardner.
Love Letters journeys through their bittersweet relationship that unfolds from what is written-and what is left unsaid-in their letters. A smash hit both off- and on-Broadway, Love Letters captures the funny and touching story with the depth of feeling and cleverness that only Gurney can command.
Benefit ticket prices are $20 for adults and $10 for students. Call the Department of Theatre box office in the Highlander Theatre lobby at 660-543-8811 to reserve tickets, or visit the box office in person. The box office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and noon to 3 p.m. after Feb. 21.
Join in the celebration of the talents of See and Brooks and enrich the opportunities of future UCM theatre students.
