Peggy Martin Earns 1,000th Win

WARRENSBURG - 10/23/2006 - UCM Jennies Volleyball Coach Peggy Martin became the winningest coach in NCAA Division II history Saturday, earning a record-setting 1,000th career win.
Win over Northwest Sets New Record
The win came with as the Jennies picked up their 10th straight victory by defeating Northwest Missouri, 3-1 in Maryville. Central Missouri also won for the 20th time in their last 21 games. The victory brings Martin's career record to 1,000-260-8 in her 31st season at UCM, and she becomes the first coach in Division II to reach the 1,000 win plateau.

Guided Teams to 23 NCAA Tournaments
Martin has guided her teams to at least 25 wins for the 29th straight season and has won or shared 19 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association crowns since the league began sponsoring the sport in 1982. Her teams have also made 23 NCAA Tournament appearances in a row, the most in Division II history, and have reached the "Elite Eight" six times, highlighted by a runner-up national showing in 1987.
Achievement Honored at Final Home Match Oct. 25.
The Jennies will close out the home portion of their regular season schedule on Wednesday night, Oct. 25 hosting the #1 Truman State Bulldogs at the UCM Multipurpose Building at 7 p.m. To honor Coach Martin's achievement Wednesday night's match has been declared "1,000 fans for 1,000 wins" with the goal to get at least 1,000 fans in attendance with all fans gaining free admission. Wednesday night's match will also be senior night for the Jens.
