Contact: Mike Greife
WARRENSBURG, MO (May 8, 2009) – The University of Central Missouri's Gallery of Art and Design will host two upcoming exhibitions featuring the works of local artists.
Opening March 12 in the Main Gallery, the Mid-Missouri Artists will present their annual exhibition. Members will display their works completed in a variety of media, including photography, watercolor, pastels, printmaking, and ceramics.
Also opening March 12 in the Outer Gallery, Warrensburg resident Jerry Miller, UCM professor emeritus of art and former chair of the Department of Art and Design, will exhibit works based on natural forms and nature scenes from the surrounding area. Inspired by his work with native materials, each work is composed of various local and exotic woods, creating a natural landscape.
Both exhibits will be open to the public through June 10.
The public is invited to meet the artists and discuss their works during an opening reception for both exhibitions from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, May 16.
Summer hours for the Gallery of Art and Design are 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and noon – 4 p.m. Saturday. The UCM Gallery of Art and Design is located in the Art Center Building at 217 E. Clark St. in Warrensburg. Admission is free, and groups are welcome.
