Mock Trail Team Headed for National Competiton

WARRENSBURG, MO (Feb. 28, 2012) - The University of Central Missouri's Mock Trial team is headed for the opening round of the national American Mock Trail Asssociation competition March 16-18.
The team qualified for the trip to national competition by placing fourth in the regional competition Feb. 1-12 at the University of Missouri Kansas City. A total of 28 teams competed in the regional competition, including competitors such as the University of Missouri and the University of Iowa. The top eight teams in the regional competiton qualify for national competiton.
The national competition will bring 48 of the top mock trail teams in the county to the federal courthouse in Minneapolis for the competition. The top eight teams in each round will proceed to the final round and competition for the national title April 6-8.
Members of the UCM Mock Trial Team are Ben Marble, a senior from Waynesville; Hope Nordyke, a senior from Butler; Nicole Southall, a junior from Concordia; Kailea Bogner, a freshman from Peculiar; Sarah Evans, a senior from Warsaw; and Kayle Meine, a junior from Warrenton.
Coaches for the team are Derek Moorhead, an attorney from Raymore; Doug Harris, an attorney from Warrensburg; and Jim Staab, UCM professor of political science.
