WARRENSBURG - 08/14/2007 - UCM will open the residence halls earlier than planned Sunday, Aug. 19, to help students and their families beat the heat while moving belongings to campus.
Doors Open at 6:30 a.m. Sunday
All residence halls will open their doors for move-in at 6:30 a.m. instead of the previously scheduled 8 a.m. opening. Anyone is welcome to take advantage of the early move-in hours on Sunday. UCM classes begin Wednesday, Aug. 22.
"We checked with our colleagues at the University of Kansas who did something similar last weekend. They had great success," said Patrick Bradley, director of University Housing. "After consulting with the UCM offices of Student Affairs; Public Safety; Facilities, Planning, and Operations; Campus Activities; and Dining Services, all were willing to adjust their plans to assist our students, families and friends move-in during the cooler morning hours."
About 2,600 students are expected to arrive on campus by Sunday to move into their rooms or suites in university student housing.
