Mules Fall to UC-San Diego, Move to Elimination Round

WARRENSBURG, MO (May 25, 2010) - Mules baseball dropped into the losers bracket of the NCAA-II Championships in Cary, North Carolina early Tuesday morning following a 2-1 setback in 11 innings to top-ranked UC-San Diego. The game, which was delayed by weather for over two hours, starting at 9:28 p.m. (EDT), and was completed at 12:55 a.m. (EDT).
The third-ranked Mules could muster only a pair of hits and the one run, marking the lowest total for both in a game in 2010. Both hits, back-to-back doubles from Tyler Ruch and Jon Wegener, came in the eighth inning and produced the only run of the game for the Mules.
Central Missouri athletics and the UCM Alumni Association will host pre-game tailgate events prior to each of the Mules games at the NCAA-II Championships.All Mules fans are invited to the event that will be held two hours prior to each game the Mules play during the event.
Similar to the regional tailgate, there will be food, drinks and spirit giveaways free to all UCM fans. There will also be a drawing for a spirit bag full of UCM gear given away each game. The tailgate will be located inside of the baseball complex in the parking lot just east of the softball and soccer fields.
