Mules Advance to Final Four of NCAA-II Elite Eight

WARRENSBURG, MO (March 26, 2009) - Mules basketball has advanced to the Final Four round of the NCAA-II Elite Eight in Springfield, Mass., with a come from behind 86-77 victory over Gannon University on Wednesday evening. The Mules trailed by as many as 12 points in the second half, but battled back to claim their 30th victory of the season, the second most wins in a single season in the program history.
Five Mules in Double Figures in Scoring
Sanijay Watts scored 21 points and De'Andre Byrd finished with 20 points to lead the Mules, who had five players score in double figures to improve to 30-4, and advance to Thursday night's semi-final contest against top-ranked and unbeaten Findlay.
Thursday's Game Televised
Thursday night's semi-final game for the Mules will tip at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast by CBS College Sports Television, with the broadcast feed available on KMOS-TV, Missouri PBS.
Parade Will Welcome the Mules Home
The Mules basketball team will be welcomed home from the NCAA-II Elite Eight Tuesday, March 31, with a parade and pep rally in Warrensburg.
The parade will begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday, weather permitting, at the Johnson County Courthouse in downtown Warrensburg. It will proceed south on Holden Street through the UCM campus, turning westbound on Houx Street. The parade will head north on Washington Street to end at the UCM Multipurpose Building. Upon the arrival of the team at the Multi at approximately 4:30 p.m., there will be a Pep Rally/Welcome Home Celebration. The team will sign posters for the fans in attendance.
