Mules Earn First No. 1 NCAA-II Ranking Since 1980

WARRENSBURG, MO (Dec. 9, 2009) - UCM's Mules basketball squad is No. 1 in all of NCAA Division II for the first time during a season since Feb. 20, 1980. More than 300 teams compete in NCAA Division II men's basketball. The Mules are 7-0 on the year and have been ranked in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Top 25 poll for 12 consecutive weeks.
The Mules have been ranked in 46 polls during Head Coach Kim Anderson's eight-year tenure. They have also been ranked in the top 10 in 27 different weeks, and the top five in 13 polls. UCM has been ranked in the national poll in six consecutive seasons. UCM has been ranked in 119 polls in the history of the program, ranking 7th in NCAA-II history. The 1984 Mules won the NCAA Division II national championship, but were never ranked No. 1 during the season, and no poll is released following the Elite Eight/Final Four.
