"Linens on Linen" by Neva Wood |
Series Examines Relationships
Wood will exhibit an introspective series of 14 works examining the relationships of mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and daughters-in-law. The primary works are oil-based reflections on a specific linen, incorporating Wood’s artistic talent with painting and fibers. A secondary set of watercolors are companion works relating to each oil painting.
Wood’s studies explore her artistic talents in both opaque painting and watercolor, which have given her the opportunity to exhibit her work nationally, with juried shows in Los Angeles, Muncie, Ind., and Omaha, Neb., as well as across Missouri.
Reception Planned for Feb. 28
The public is invited to attend a reception honoring Wood at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, in the gallery. Those attending may meet the artist and enjoy a discussion of her work.
Wood received Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Arts degrees from UCM and a Masters of Fine Arts degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia.
