Nordyke Receives William B. Sweet Distinguished Service Award

WARRENSBURG, MO (Nov. 18, 2010) –Alan Nordyke, director of residence and Greeklife at the University of Central Missouri, has been named to receive the prestigious William B. Sweet Distinguished Service Award by the Upper Midwest Region – Association of College and University Housing Officers.
The award is presented annually to a nominee who demonstrates exceptional dedication and service to the field of university housing at the regional and international level. This is the most prestigious award that is bestowed by the organization.
Nordyke was nominated for and his hard work with UMR-ACUHO, ACUHO-I, and other professional organizations in the field of student affairs. He has served as president, vice president, and treasurer for UMR-ACUHO, has served on a variety of committees, and frequently has been a presenter at annual conferences. In addition, Nordyke has received the Robert Mosier Professional Enrichment Award from UMR-ACUHO.
“Alan has been very involved with UMR-ACUHO since his arrival to the region,” said Patrick Bradley, senior director of university housing and residential dining services at UCM. “He is known for his organized, caring, and conscientious approach to his volunteer activities. Alan has always volunteered and been an active participant no matter what position he held.”
Nordyke earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business at Western Illinois University and a master’s degree in college student personnel admininistration at Bowling Green State University. He is a member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, American College Personnel Association, Association of College and University Housing Officers - International, Missouri College Student Personnel Association, Association of Fraternity Advisors, In addition, Nordyke coordinates the graduate assistantship hiring process for College Student Personnel Administration program at UCM.
