UCM Theatre Students Present Studio Series One-Act Plays
Contact: Mike Greife
The University of Central Missouri Department of Theatre and Dance Studio Theatre series presents three one-act plays at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 2-4 in the BlackBox Theatre on the first floor of Nickerson Hall. Each play in the series will be performed, directed and designed by UCM students.
“Breakfast and Bed” by Amy Fox, directed by Adam Tucker with technical direction by Danny Lindsay, is the story of two women searching for their true identity. With little time left, both women are bound by curiosity and guilt as they reach for a new meaning to life.
“..... Art” directed by Alex McCale, with technical direction by Bobby Wearing, is an endearing show about a teenage boy, Art, dying from cancer and the daring young girl who plans to be his first and last sexual experience. The charming interchange between the couple soon opens up to a theological conversation about what it means to die and what comes after death.
“Comings and Goings” directed by Karen Billingsley, with technical direction by Ben Whitcomb, is a play that explores varying types of relationships through a series of heartfelt and honest scenes. From exchanges between lovers to interactions between total strangers, this piece explores the little moments people can share that make life both wonderful and heartbreaking.
Tickets are $1 and are available at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m. Seating is limited, and early arrival is encouraged. Some material may be suitable for mature audiences, and children under the age of five will not be admitted to the show
