Department of Theatre Presents One-Act Plays

WARRENSBURG, MO (Sept. 6, 2013)-The University of Central Missouri Department of Theatre and Dance presents three one-act plays as at 7:30 p.m. September 12-14 at 7:30 pm in the Black Box Theatre located on the first floor of Nickerson Hall. Performed, directed and designed entirely by UCM students, the one-acts are pesented as part of the Studio Theatre series.

“Running in Circles Screaming,” directed by Brandi Campbell, with technical direction by Rachael Conroy, exxamines lives of Lou and Stan as they make their weekly trip to a nearby children’s park. The play examines marriage, relationships, and where they place the blame when it seems like everywhere they turn someone has the one thing that they can’t have. This show features Emmy Panzica as Lou, Loran Jett as Heather, and Ben Whitcomb as Stan.

In “The News,” directed by John Markley, with technical direction by Kalyssa Bates, features Karen enters the hospital in hopes of removing a fatal tumor. Instead, she must come to terms with her fate and the fate of her friends and family alike. The cast features Sydney Crank as Karen, Steven Covert as David, Megan Reed as Hilary, and Andy Weber as George.

“Call It Clover,” directed by Amanda Trout, with technical direction by Bethanie Million, revolves around the lives of three everyday people. Sandy has been diagnosed with an illness from which she may or may not recover. As Sandy and her husband deal with the struggle, while their friend Eddie tries to raise their spirits. The cast features Krystle Cain as Sandy, Demetrius Pagan as Perry, and Benjamin Barker as Eddie.

Tickets are $1 and are available at the door. Due to limited seating, early arrival is strongly recommended. Doors open at 7 p.m. Some material may be suitable for mature audiences, and children under the age of five will not be admitted.
