WARRENSBURG, MO (May 14, 2014) – The Office of the Performing Arts at the University of Central Missouri recently presented Student Excellence Awards to three students enrolled in
the UCM Department of Music. The award recognizes students who have demonstrated outstanding musicianship, scholarship and service to the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.
Receiving the awards were:
- Kyle Ritchhart, a senior music technology major, the son of David and Janet Ritchhart of Warrensburg;
- Hannah Dykstra, a junior vocal music education major, the daughter of Mike and Sandy Dykstra of Lee’s Summit.
- Michael Stricken, an instrumental music education major, the son of Richard and Carol Dillon of Independence.
Funding for the awards was provided from the net proceeds of the annual UCM Big Band Dinner and Dance fundraiser. Recipients are nominated by faculty from the UCM Department of Music and receive a $250 cash award and a certificate of recognition.
“We are very pleased to be able to make these awards available for these outstanding students,” said Jeff Imboden, director of the Office of the Performing Arts. “I really appreciate all the support from the UCM Office of Alumni Relations and faculty from the Department of Music who helped make the Big Band fundraiser a success and provide the funding for this project.”
