Contact: Mike Greife
Individual tickets now are available for the season opening performance of the 2008-2009 season of UCM’s Performing Arts Series.

An Anniversary Celebration

In a celebration of the 20th anniversary season, the Kansas City Symphony returns to UCM to open season at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, in Hendricks Hall, just as it did in the inaugural performance of the university’s Premier Performances in 1988. The new symphony, under the direction of music director Michael Sterns, will present a performance from its classical series, “Tchaikovsky’s Fifth.”

Purchase Tickets Now

Purchase your tickets online, by calling the new box office number at 660-543-8888, or by stopping by the box office, located in Suite 100 of the UCM Administration Building. The box office is open between noon and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. In addition to individual performance tickets for the Oct. 5 opening performance, season tickets also remain available.

A New Home, A New Director

The Performing Arts Series has expanded its series of performances to include nine events as it moves to a new home in UCM’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Jeff Imboden also begins his first full season as the director of the Performing Arts Series.

Enhancing Education through the Arts

In addition to the excitement that will be created with each performance, the Performing Arts Series continues to fulfill its mission of “Enhancing Education through the Arts” by providing workshops and master classes conducted by several of the performing artists through the Arts Education Outreach Program. Supporting the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Show-Me Standards, these opportunities are open to K-12 students and UCM students.
