WARRENSBURG, MO (Oct. 20, 2011) – The University of Central Missouri’s Performing Arts Series and Department of Theatre and Dance will join forces to present the children’s play “Ribbitt” Oct. 27-29 in Hendricks Hall.
The production, an original play written by Earl Sherburne and winner of the Theatre for Young Audiences Playwriting Competition, centers on the dilemma facing Princess Rina, who is to marry the conceited Prince George. She rejects George, forcing her father, the King, to decree a contest for a new suitor to win her hand in marriage by bringing him a claw from the paw of a ferocious lion. The homely frog, George, falls in love with Rina and joins the crowd of handsome suitors vying for her hand.
Seating remains available for this musical version of “The Frog Prince,” which reveals how the Princess Rina finally chooses love and happiness. Public performances are planned for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, and 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. School matinee performances are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, and Friday, Oct. 28.
