Performance will Celebrate American Jazz and Rhythm Tap Dance

WARRENSBURG, MO (March 25, 2009) – UCM’s Performing Arts Series pays homage to rhythm tap dance, from Fred Astaire to the Nicholas Brothers, with the presentation of The Souls of Our Feet: A Celebration of American Tap Dance at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, in Hendricks Hall.

Tap Legend Arthur Duncan Will Perform
Arthur Duncan, a featured performer on “The Lawrence Welk Show,” will be among the talented dancers performing with the Austin-based Tapestry Dance Company under the direction of Acia Gray. The one-of-a-kind concert brings swinging jazz performed by the Eddy Hobizal Jazz Trio and 18 flying feet together in a celebration of the indigenous American art form.
Educational Program Included
In addition to the public performance, the Tapestry Dance Company and the Eddy Hobizal Trio will offer a free workshop for students and dance academies as part of the Performing Arts Series Arts Education Program.
Tickets Available Now
Tickets for The Souls of Our Feet: A Celebration of American Tap Dance are available online, from the Performing Arts Series box office in Administration 100, by calling the box office at 660-543-8888. Tickets also are available for the May 1 concert by recording legend BJ Thomas, the grand finale of the 20th anniversary 2008-2009 Performing Arts Series season.
