Gallery of Art and Design Hosts Exhibit by Anne Austin Pearce

WARRENSBURG, MO (Sept. 25, 2008) - The Gallery of Art and Design at the University of Central Missouri will host an exhibition by Kansas City based artist Anne Austin Pearce Oct. 2 - Nov. 6.
The exhibition of drawings and illustrations explores the awareness of the subconscious and its effect on the conceptual development of artmaking. With recent exhibitions in New York and Los Angeles, Pearce was named one of “Star Magazine’s 2008 Emerging Artists,” by The Kansas City Star. In addition to her accomplishments as an artist, Pearce also has made her mark as a curator and director of the Greenlease Gallery at Rockhurst University.
The Gallery of Art and Design will host “Lunch with the Artist” at noon Wednesday, Oct. 8. Pearce will give an informal lecture and answer any questions while patrons enjoy a light lunch sponsored by the gallery. The event is free and open to the public.
The UCM Gallery of Art and Design is located in the Art Center Building at 217 E. Clark St. in Warrensburg. Hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., or by appointment. Admission is free, and groups are welcome.
