Phi Kappa Phi, Honors College Host Public Forum

WARRENSBURG, MO (Nov. 2, 2011) – The Honors College at the University of Central Missouri and the UCM chapter of Phi Kappa Phi collegiate honor society will host a public forum, “Mind and Body: Athletics in Academe,” devoted to co-curricular teaching and learning at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, in Elliott Union 238.
The forum will feature a keynote address by Mike Racy, 2011-2012 American Council on Education ACE Fellow at UCM and NCAA Division II vice president. Racy’s address, “Intercollegiate Athletics: Preparing Student Athletes for Lifelong Success,” will be followed by a roundtable discussion. Panelists will be Kim Anderson, Mules head basketball coach; Kathy Anderson, UCM athletics compliance officer; Dan Gerdes, professor of kinesiology; Ron Holmes, Jennies head bowling coach; and Tom Myers, Mules head baseball coach. The panel will be moderated by Joseph Lewandowski, dean of The Honors College and professor of philosophy.
The public is invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
