Symphony Pops Concert Planned for Sept. 28

WARRENSBURG, MO (Sept. 23, 2010) – The University of Central Missouri’s Symphony Orchestra will present a concert of seasoned classics during the Orchestra Pops Concert Tuesday, Sept. 28. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Hart Recital Hall of the Utt Building.
Under the direction of John Rutland, associate professor of music, the orchestra will perform familiar classics from the film “Exodus” and Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess.” The driving rhythms of Khachaturian’s “Sabre Dance” and a variety of Broadway show tunes will be part of the program.
The orchestra also will perform the powerful, slow movement from Beethoven’s 7th Symphony and the first movement of Schubert’s “Unfinished Symphony.”
