Department of Music Presents Annual Provost's Faculty Showcase

WARRENSBURG, MO (Sept.11, 2013) – Deborah Curtis, the provost and chief learning officer at the University of Central Missouri, presents the opening of the fall Department of Music performance season as she hosts the 2013 Provost’s Faculty Showcase at 7:30 p.m. Friday Sept. 20, in Hart Recital Hall.
The public is invited to attend, free of charge. The annual event provides an opportunity for the campus and local communities to enjoy the depth of experience and talent of the music faculty as the university begins a new academic year.
Opening the program, tenor Jacob Sentgeorge, accompanied by Gustavo Castro-Ramirez on piano, will present "I Heard You Singing” by Coates, followed by Gary Moege’s performance of "Espana by Buyanovsky" on horn. John Rutland will perform “First Rhapsody” by Bartok on violin, accompanied by Andrew Stephens on piano.
Gary Brattin and Topher Short will present “Suite in C” by Boismortier on tuba, and Eric Honour, on alto saxophone, will perform Ceccarelli’s “Neuromante” for saxophone and six channel fixed media
Following intermission, Alan Wenger will perform “The Final Stroke of Nine” by Honour, accompanied by Mia Hynes on piano. Michael Bersin will then perform “Sonata, Op. 8” by Kodaly on cello, followed by mezzo-soprano Kristee Haney’s presentation of “Il padre adorato by Idomeneo” by Mozart, accompanied by Andrew Stephens on piano.
Hynes and Tian Tian will provide the finale with their duet performance on “Suite for Two Pianos, Op. 17, No. 2” by Rachmaninoff.
Patrons will have an opportunity to the meet faculty at a reception following the program in the reception area outside Hart Recital Hall.
