Repertory Theatre Presents 26th Season
Contact: Mike Greife
WARRENSBURG - 05/15/2007 -
Central Missouri Repertory will bring its 26th season of summer theatre to UCM and surrounding communities with the presentation of "The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940" by John Bishop June 14-16 and 21-23 in UCM's James L. Highlander Theatre. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m.
Comedy Enjoyed Run on Broadway
Richard Herman, chair of the UCM Department of Theatre, is the director of the production, and John Wilson, associate professor of theatre, is company manager. The comedy enjoyed a long and critically hailed run, both off- and on Broadway. Poking fun at the more ridiculous aspects of "show biz" and the corny thrillers of Hollywood's heyday, the play is a non-stop barrage of laughs as the cast attempts to identify the "Stage Door Slasher."
Something for Everyone
"It's a madcap farce with bigger than life characters, a great set and beautiful costumes from the 1940s," Wilson said. "We've done some really great summer theatre in the past, but I think this year will serve up to our season ticket subscribers, as well as many newcomers, a truly genuine night of family fun and great laughter."
Box office Opens May 21
The CMR box office opens Monday, May 21. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $8 for UCM faculty and staff and senior citizens, and $$6 for students. Tickets may be purchased by stopping by the box office in the Highlander Theatre lobby between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, or by calling 660-543-8811.
Central Missouri Repertory is sponsored in part by First Community Bank of Warrensburg, Peerbolte Creative, Murdock Banner Financial Group, Economy Lumber and Hardware and Quizno's.
