WARRENSBURG, MO (July 14, 2014) – Return With Purpose workshops geared to active duty military personnel and veterans who want to learn how to make an easier transition to civilian life are returning to the University of Central Missouri this fall. The free programs are available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23 and Saturday, Sept. 20 in Room 235 of the Elliott Student Union.
UCM’s Office of Military and Veteran Services and the non-profit organization Return With Purpose are collaborating on these programs. They are tailored specifically toward active duty military personnel preparing to leave the service, veterans, members of the National Guard, reservists and military spouses. Advanced registration is required. Individuals planning to attend the August session should register by Aug. 13, and those participating in September should register by Sept. 15.
Leading the workshops will be Greg Ganschaw, chief executive officer and founder of Return With Purpose. Ganschaw is a U.S. Air Force veteran who has worked with Fortune 500 companies to help employees and corporations to maximize their skills, abilities and productivity.
Return With Purpose will aid participants in preparing for the future by helping them understand how they can design a path to a life they want, identify and remove barriers to changing their lives, realize their potential, find
a new purpose in life helping other veterans, and develop an action plan to ensure success as a job seeker, student or family member.
The workshop’s curriculum was developed with input from psychologists and has been in use for more than 40 years. It is tailored to meet needs specific to military members and their families, and has been implemented by higher education institutions that include Stanford, Penn State, and Washington University, to name just a few.
Interested individuals must RSVP to Ganschaw by the appropriate registration date at Gregg.Ganschaw@ReturnWithPurpose.org or call 314-520-2046. He can also address any questions related to the program. Individuals making reservations should advise Ganschaw of their name and military status, phone number, and email address. They should also let him know if they are a UCM student. Limited seating is available.
