UCM Acquires South East Elementary School Property

WARRENSBURG, MO (May 1, 2012) – As a strategic move that will help the University of Central Missouri plan for future growth, UCM this week purchased the former South East Elementary School and its surrounding property from the Warrensburg R-VI School District.
The university officially closed on the real estate transaction Tuesday, May 1. The vacant school is located at 415 E. Clark St., just east of the university’s Foster-Knox Apartment Complex. It will provide the university with 4.6 acres of land, a 26,142-square-foot building, and three transportable buildings that provide an additional 4,160 square feet for future development.
“This is an important decision for the university, and an essential piece of our overall Master Plan that will enable us to move forward with projects that will better serve students and further build stronger connections with the Warrensburg community,” said Charles Ambrose, UCM president. “There’s still a lot to be done before we can utilize this adjacent property, but its proximity to the university certainly makes it ideal for utilization and future campus growth.”
UCM purchased the property for $800,000. The school district has owned the property since 1954.
