WARRENSBURG - 9/15/2006 -
UCM's Friends of Music Society will host the first event in the Friends of Music Concert Series with the Music Faculty Showcase at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18 in the Hart Recital Hall. The evening features virtuoso classical and jazz music, highlighting the talent of the university's music faculty.
Full Season of Performances Planned
Upcoming Friends of Music Society concerts include "The Voice of Mozart: A Jubilee Concert" Thursday, Oct. 19, and UCM music alumnus and former Warrensburg resident David Halen, the concertmaster of the Saint Louis Symphony, and cellist Daniel Lee in "An Evening of Chamber Music with David Halen and Daniel Lee" Monday, Oct. 30. Classical guitarist Petar Jankovic will perform Friday, Nov. 10, and Ralph Votapek, professor of piano and artist in residence emeritus at the Michigan State University School of Music, will perform Monday, Feb. 5.
All of the above performances are at 7:30 p.m. in the Hart Recital Hall.
Gala Scholarship Concert Returns
The Gala Scholarship Concert is the finale of the concert season at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 30. This concert is planned for UCM's Hendricks Hall.
Become a Friend of Music at UCM
Become a member of the Friends of Music Society by making a donation to the UCM Foundation in support of music initiatives. Members may support not only the scholarship programs, but instrument and technology acquisition and maintenance, and appearances by guest artists and master teachers who will work with Central Missouri's music students.
Membership Has Benefits
Special benefits to donors at certain levels of membership include the opportunity to have music faculty perform at private events, to "name" a concert in honor or memory of a friend or loved one, or to be a guest conductor with one of the university's major ensembles. In addition, donors will receive invitations to special social and musical events and public recognition in print materials at upcoming concerts.
