Entries Sought for Third Annual Show Me Film Festival

Contact Mike Greife
WARRENSBURG, MO (April 4, 2012) – Entries are now being accepted for the 3rd Annual Show Me Justice Film Festival, planned for Oct. 17-20, 2012, on the campus of the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo.

The Show Me Justice Film Festival strives to raise awareness about social injustice and inspire action through the art of film. Building on the success of the 2nd annual festival in 2011, this year’s festival is being coordinated by the UCM College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences and the Department of Communication and Sociology, with support from the Missouri Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Filmmakers from around the world are encouraged to submit feature films and short animated, experimental, narrative, and documentary films that put a face on the many shades of injustice. Entries should be submitted through the online festival entry service WithoutaBox.com. The deadline to enter is July 1, 2012. There is no entry fee.

The categories for the film festival include Feature Films (documentary or narrative works over 45 minutes in length), Documentary Short Films, Narrative Shorts, Experimental Shorts, and Animated Shorts.

“Our goal is to find amazing films that inspire individuals toward action against racism, sexism, poverty, and other social injustices that plague our society,” said Mark von Schlemmer, festival director and assistant professor in the UCM Department of Communication. “The festival brings together students, community members, and people throughout the region to share these fantastic, artful glimpses into our society and societies around the world – films that showcase the human aspiration for freedom and justice.”
