Central Missouri Repertory Launches 29th Summer Season

WARRENSBURG, MO (June 16, 2010) - The Central Missouri Repertory Theatre at the University of Central Missouri launches its 29th annual summer season featuring the musical, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, and a touring children’s show, Everykid.
I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change
Written by Joe DiPietro and Jimmy Roberts, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change will be presented June 17-19 and June 24-26 in the Highlander Theatre. A celebration of the mating game, the play takes on the truths and myths behind relationships, including dating and waiting, love and marriage, the agonies and triumphs of in-laws and newborns, trips in the family car and pick-up techniques of the geriatric set.
The cast includes Lauren Birdsong, Robert Covington, Adam Henry, Alex McCale, Joseph Reece and Jamie Veltre. Julie Rae Mollenkamp, professor of theatre, will direct, with musical direction by Jacob Sentgeorge, assistant professor of music. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m..
The children’s show, directed by John Wilson, professor of theatre, is based of the morality play Everyman. The two main characters, “Everyboy” and “Everygirl,” are taken through a journey that encompasses many of the temptations that plague our youth today. It’s full of interesting value-oriented choices, humor, physical comedy, and features an ending that celebrates the act of offering a helping hand in the journey through life.
Everykid will be on tour, presenting free public 10 a.m. performances at several sites in west-central Missouri:
- June 16 in Carrollton at Carrollton Elementary School
- June 17 in Blue Springs at the Blue Springs Park Community Center
- June 18 in Richmond at Richmond Middle School
- June 22 at Children’s Mercy Hospital
- June 23 at Whiteman Air Force Base
- June 24 in Warrensburg at Grover Park
- June 25 in Clinton at the City Park Amphitheatre.
Tickets for I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change will be available beginning June 2 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday-Friday, at the theatre box office in the lobby of the Highlander Theatre, or by calling 660-543-8811. General public price is $12, UCM faculty, staff and senior citizens will be admitted for $10, and students will be charged $7. Children under the age of five years old will not be admitted to the performance.
