Tailgate with the City Still Seeking Food Vendors

WARRENSBURG, MO (Sept. 17, 2012) – Building upon a strong town-gown relationship between the University of Central Missouri and the local community, the first “Tailgate with the City” is planned for Saturday, Oct. 13, immediately following the 2012 Homecoming Parade in downtown Warrensburg.
This special outdoor event, featuring food, children’s, games, entertainment , vendors and more, is planned for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.at the civic center complex at 102 S. Holden St. It is coordinated by a committee that includes representatives of the City of Warrensburg, Warrensburg Main Street, Warrensburg R-VI School District, and UCM. Student volunteers from Warrensburg High School also will assist with the event.
All activities are designed to give UCM students, employees and alumni, local families, and community visitors fun options in the downtown area between the conclusion of the parade and the beginning of the Mules Homecoming football game. Attractions include demonstrations/performances by Spirit Express, students from UCM’s Department of Theatre and Dance, and the Team Air tumblers from the Warrensburg Parks and Recreation Department. CenturyLink is sponsoring a children’s inflatable, and there will be a variety of other opportunities such as children’s bounce houses, games, face painting, hoop shoot, ring toss, football throw, and a visit from Mo the Mule. A variety of food items such as hotdogs, cupcakes, and soft drinks will be available, along with a DJ and static displays such as a National Guard helicopter and a fire truck provided by the Warrensburg Fire Department.
