Families Encouraged to Attend Gearing Up Technology Fair

WARRENSBURG, MO (Nov. 9, 2011) – The Gearing Up Technology Fair featuring a variety of exhibits, presentations and demonstrations is planned for Saturday, Nov. 12 in Kansas City by the University of Central Missouri and partnering organizations from the metropolitan area. Families are encouraged to attend this free event, which takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the W.E.B. DuBois Learning Center, 6409 Agnes in Kansas City.
UCM’s Office of Community Engagement and the School of Technology are co-sponsoring the fair with DuBois Learning Center and the Black Family Technology Awareness Association of Kansas City. University students and faculty will be there providing opportunities to see robotics demonstrations, learn about electric cars, and demonstrate Cisco applications, and there will also be a robotic scrimmage presented by BFTAA. The Kansas City Soap Box Derby will be there with a display, and 4-H will provide interactive games for young children. Representatives of the Kansas City Public Library, Science Pioneers, the Greater Kansas City Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen, UCM’s Automotive Technology Management and Electronic Engineering Technology programs also will be there.
