Fall Theatre Mainstage Season Opens with 'The Drowsy Chaperone'

WARRENSBURG, MO (Sept. 17, 2012) - The University of Central Missouri’s Department of Theatre and Dance, in collaboration with the Department of Music, opens the fall 2012 mainstage season Oct. 3-7 in the James L. Highlander Theatre with the the musical "The Drowsy Chaperone" by Bob Martin and Don McKellar.
"The Drowsy Chaperone" follows a middle-aged, agoraphobic, Broadway fanatic who reminisces through his favorite musical from 1928. As he plays his favorite soundtrack the characters come to life in this hilarious Tony-award-winning play. Under the direction of John Wilson, Musical Director Jacob Sentgeorge and Musical Conductor Robert Lawrence, "The Drowsy Chaperone" also welcomes Margaret Spare as guest artist in lighting design. Spare’s currently residency is funded by the Meridith Harmon Sauer Guest Artist Series.
Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. for the October 3-6 evening performances, with a 2 p.m. matinee planned for Sunday, Oct. 7. Admission is $15 for the general public, $12 for UCM faculty, staff and senior citizens, and $7 for students. Children under the age of five will not be admitted. The box office, located in Wood 128, will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays beginning Sept. 24 for season ticket holders and Sept. 26 for the general public.
The cast includes Devin Burns as Man in Chair, Nellie Maple as Mrs. Tottendale, Alex Kolster as Underling, Joseph Reece as Robert Martin, David LeVota as George, Bobby Covington as Feldzieg, Kelsey Reinsfelder as Kitty, Justin Barron as Gangster #1, Matthew Swenson as Gangster #2, Bob Wearing as Aldolpho, Alexis Morris as Janet Van De Graaff, Allison Korn as The Drowsy Chaperone, Alyce Pickering as Trix The Aviatrix, and Zachary McGee as the Superintendent. The chorus includes Brooke Meyers, Kaelyn Whitt, Annie Beile, Olivia Welch, Connor Bush, Mike Lusareta, Daniel Parman, and Jesse Yost.
