Skakespeare Meets Hollywood in Dept. of Theatre Production

Shakespeare's characters meet their matches in 1930's Hollywood at the curtain goes up on the Ken Ludwig's Shakespeare in Hollywood, the UCM Department of Theatre's spring mainstage performance.
Performances Scheduled for April 23-27
Under the direction of John Wilson, associate professor of theatre, the production will be presented in the Highlander Theatre at 7:30 p.m. April 23-26, with a 2 p.m. matinee planned for April 27.
An Introduction to the World of the Silver Screen
It’s 1934, and Shakespeare’s famous fairies Oberon and Puck magically have materialized in Hollywood on the set of Max Reinhardt’s A Midsummer Night’s Dreamat Warner Bros. Studio. Instantly smitten by the glitz and glamour, they are ushered into the world of the silver screen to play themselves.
Serving on the design team are Gregory J. Owen, assistant professor of theatre, as scenic designer; Ronnie Chamberlain, assistant professor of theatre, as the costume designer; and Jeff Peltz, assistant professor of theatre, as the lighting and sound designer. Twenty-three UCM students make up the cast, many in dual roles, portraying the Hollywood stars that made movie industry history, as well as classic Shakespearean characters.
Box Office Now Open
The box office, located in Wood 128, will open from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays. Tickets to see Shakespeare in Hollywood are $10 for the general public, $8 for UCM faculty, staff and senior citizens, and $6 for students. Children under the age of 5 years old will not be admitted.
