UCM Hosts Missouri Boys State

Gen. James T. Conway
Following the opening ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 17 in Hendricks Hall, Gen. James T. Conway, U.S. Marine Corps Commandant, will deliver a keynote address to the general assembly. Gen. Conway will discuss various aspects of the Marine Corps involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Attorney General Jay Nixon
Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon will address the general assembly at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 17, in Hendricks Hall, speaking on current issues in Missouri state government, followed by a question and answer session.
Gen. Wesley T. Clark
Gen. Wesley T. Clark, retired U.S. Army four-star general and former presidential candidate, will accept the 19th annual George W. Lehr Memorial Speakers Chair at 7:15 p.m. Monday, June 18, in Hendricks Hall. Clark will discuss his experiences as the Supreme Allied Commander of U.S. Forces in Europe during the war in Kosovo and his bid for the White House in 2004. Following his prepared remarks, Clark will conduct a question and answer session.
The George W. Lehr Memorial Speakers Chair was established in 1988 as part of the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Missouri Boys State program. The Lehr Chair honors the late Missouri State Auditor George W. Lehr, a Boys State participant and a tireless supporter of the program.
Author James Amps III
Educator and author James Amps III will speak at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, in Hendricks Hall. The internationally known keynote speaker will discuss turning obstacles into opportunities, problems into possibilities and temporary defeats into permanent victories.
State Auditor Susan Montee
Missouri State Auditor Susan Montee will announce and certify the statewide election results at address the general assembly at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, June 20, in the UCM Multipurpose Building, followed by a photo session with Boys State citizens.
Governor Matt Blunt
Missouri Governor Matt Blunt will deliver the keynote address at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in Hendricks Hall. He then will swear-in the newly elected Missouri Boys State governor and all new Missouri Boys State constitutional officers and Supreme Court justices.
Cmdr. Eric Greitens
Cmdr. Eric Greitens, U.S. Navy, an alumnus of Missouri Boys State, will address the general assembly at 7 p.m. Friday, June 22, in Hendricks Hall. Greitens was a speaker during the 2005 and 2006 sessions, and he returns to the 2007 session to discuss his successes as a Navy SEAL and Rhodes Scholar. He also will share his experiences as a White House fellow serving in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
U.S. Rep. Kenny Hulshof
Also at the 7 p.m. general assembly, U.S. Rep. Kenny Hulshof will discuss his work in Congress, followed and opportunity for questions and answers.
The final awards ceremony for the 2007 session of The American Legion Missouri Boys State is planned for 8 a.m. Saturday, June 23, in Hendricks Hall. Parents and friends of Missouri Boys State citizens are invited to attend
