Elliott Union Receives Six Regional Awards

WARRENSBURG, MO ( Nov. 16, 2011) - The staff of the University of Central Missouri’s Elliott Union received six awards at the 2011 Association of College Unions International Regions 9 and 11 Regional Conference in St. Louis, Nov. 3-5.
The Elliott Union staff received the Bernard Pitts Role of the College Union Award for the 2011 UCM Union Open House. This award is presented annually to a Region 11 school in recognition of significant contributions to the mission and goals of the College Union. Region 11 is composed of higher education institutions from Missouri, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Kansas.
Region 11 Regional Director Jeremy Schenk read excerpts from the nomination at the closing banquet, which included that “the event successfully created excitement about the union and positioned the Elliott Union as the living room of campus.”
UCM student graphic designer Nikki Pirch, Holden, won four categories of the Region 11 graphic design competition. Her logo design for the new Café Rouge was recognized as best logo, the Elliott Union brochure won the brochure category, a vinyl bowling banner won for large media, and the Open House campaign was honored as best campaign. Additionally, the Elliott Union staff was recognized as the “most spirited staff” the last day of the conference.
Elliott Union is considered the “campus living room” and is open to students and the public seven days a week. The services available in the building include U.S. Bank, the UCM ID Card Office, the Union Bowling Center, the University Store, numerous retail food vendors and the Office of Student Activities.
