UCM's Elliott Union Celebrates 48th Birthday Sept. 29

WARRENSBURG, MO (Sept. 20, 2010) –The University of Central Missouri's Ed Elliott Union will celebrate its 48th anniversary Sept. 29 with games, birthday cake and a visit from Mo the Mule.
Many of the Elliott Union tenants will contribute to the festivities by offering discounted rates or special events throughout the day. The Union Bowling Center will have games of bowling and shoe rental for just 48 cents each from noon-2 p.m. All food vendors in the Union, including Chick-fil-A, Jazzman’s and Central Courte, will offer 48-cent refills on fountain beverages and coffee throughout the day.
Visitors to the Union on Sept. 29 also will be treated to free snacks, starting with muffins served at 9 a.m. At 1 p.m., Mo the Mule will be in the Union atrium for a birthday song, photos and cake. Immediately following, the Union Bowling Center will debut its newest inflatable game items – sumo wrestling suits. From 2-3 p.m., Union visitors will be able to try out the new suits and test their wrestling skills for free in the Charno Room.
The student organization, The Spotlight, will sponsor late-night Karaoke, free to all UCM students, starting at 8 p.m.
Elliott Union is considered the “campus living room” and is open to students and the public seven days a week. The services available in the building include U.S. Bank, the UCM ID Card Office, the Union Bowling Center, the University Store, numerous retail food vendors, and the Office of Campus Activities. The Elliott Union includes more than 19,000 square feet of meeting space that can be reserved for on- and off-campus events through the Office of Meeting and Conference Services.
