Vietnam Era Veterans Sought for Nov. 11 Celebration

WARRENSBURG, MO (July 25, 2011) – With a sign-up deadline of Aug. 15, Warrensburg organizations are seeking veterans of the Vietnam War to participate in a special Veterans Day Community Celebration in their honor at the University of Central Missouri Multipurpose Building. The ceremony will honor Vietnam era veterans who served in the military between the periods of Feb. 28, 1961 to May 7, 1975. Members of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars are encouraged to be a part of the event.
The general public is encouraged to plan now to attend the ceremony at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11. The event is hosted by local American Legion Post 131, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2513 and UCM’s Office of Military and Veteran Services. Event day reporting time for participants will be 9:15 am.
Although complete details regarding the ceremony are still being finalized, Vietnam era veterans who wish to participate in the recognition ceremony are required to register and provide the following information to event coordinators: name, address, telephone number, branch of service, and year arrived in Vietnam. Those veterans who served during the Vietnam era but were not stationed in Vietnam should provide their dates of military service during the era.
