Annual Wellness Fair Offers Facts and Fun

WARRENSBURG, MO (March 17, 2007) -
Take advantage of opportunities to improve your health in a fun and informative environment as UCM's Office of Health Promotions and University Health Services sponsors the eighth Annual Wellness Fair Wednesday, March 21.
Information, Screenings Available
Dozens of professionals will be available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Elliott Union ballroom, providing opportunities to learn about healthy living through demonstrations, product presentations and a wealth of information. Learn about sexual health, heart disease, stress management, nutrition, physical fitness and more. In addition, a painless bone scan that takes only minutes and screens for osteoporosis will be available for a $5 fee. Schedule an appointment with Mary Brinkley at 660-543-4256.
A non-fasting cholesterol screening will check triglycerides, HDL, LDL, glucose and ratio, and Dr. Karen Doyle, promotions coordinator for Western Missouri Medical Center, will be on hand to interpret results. Appointments will take 15 minutes or less and should be made by contacting Doyle at 660-747-2500, ext. 4044.
Body Works Day Spa will provide free 5-10 minute chair massages, and free screenings include body fat analysis, varicose veins, foot exams, glaucoma, macular degeneration, blood pressure, and spinal screenings.
Door Prizes to be Given Away
Many of the participating vendors will join the university in providing door prizes throughout the day. Prizes include free services contracts, gift certificates, cookbooks, t-shirt, and more.
