Women Veteran's Conference Planned for Sept. 14

WARRENSBURG, MO (Aug. 24, 2012) – The Women Veterans Conference, an information-packed, free event featuring a variety of guest speakers and informational booths, is planned for 9 a.m. Friday,
Sept. 14, in the Sandra Temple Elliott Ballroom of the Elliott Union at the University of Central Missouri.
The conference is being coordinated by the Missouri Veterans Commission in cooperation with the UCM Office of Military and Veteran Services. Highlights will include the presentation of the Women Veteran of the Year Award during opening ceremonies at 9:30 a.m., and keynote remarks at 11:30 a.m. presented by Col. Theresa Rodriguez, 509th Medical Group Commander, Whiteman Air Force Base.
Other guest speakers between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. will include representatives of Veterans Administration hospitals, the Vet Center, veterans homes, veterans cemeteries, veteran service officer, stress management personnel and others. Lunch will be provided.
Anyone who wants to register an informational booth can do so by contacting Amy Bennett, coordinator of Missouri Women Veterans, Missouri Veterans Commission, at 816-387-2841. All participants and vendors must be registered by Sept. 4.
