UCM Impact Student Leadership Logo

The LEAD (Leadership. Education. Advocacy. Development) Series are designed to help students reach their full leadership potential, learn how to use leadership skills in their own lives, and to better assist their student organizations. With presentations by a variety of national speakers and campus professionals, there's bound to be something you or your organizations are
interested in! While some sessions may be designed for student organizations, all students are welcome to attend the LEAD Series regardless of involvement level!

 

September 12, 2013-“YOLO: You Only Lead Once” by Sam Davidson
6:30pm, Union 240

National speaker Sam Davidson will speak on taking advantage of your time as a student leader including balancing academics and extracurricular activities.

September 17, 2013-“Muggles Who Juggle: Nonmagical Ways to Get Things Done” by Dr. Liz Cassidy and Dr. Jeanne Woon
12:00pm, Union 236/238

Dr. Liz Cassidy and Dr. Jeanne Woon from UCM’s Counseling Center will be following up Sam Davidson’s presentation “YOLO: You Only Lead Once” with information about balancing time and stress in a fun and interactive way.

September 26, 2013- “Becoming an Agent of Change” by Amy Kiger and Jenny Rabas
6:00pm, Union 236/238

Amy Kiger and Jenny Rabas from UCM’s Violence/Substance Abuse Prevention (VSAP) office will be kicking off a month of communication with a presentation on how YOU can
make a difference in the injustices you see on a daily basis as part of National Hazing Prevention Week.

October 9, 2013- “Trevor Project” by Trevor Project Representative
4:00pm, Union 240

A representative from The Trevor Project will come and speak about the prevalence of suicide within the LGBTQ community and what YOU can do to detect the signals of
suicidal thoughts and ways to prevent it.

October 17, 2013- “Tough Conversations” by Dr. Shari Bax and Dr. Wendy Geiger
12:00pm, Union 237 A&B

Dr. Shari Bax, Vice Provost for Student Experience and Engagement along with Dr. Wendy Geiger, Professor, will be following up “The Trevor Project” with information on how to tackle tough conversations such as conflict management in a small group style workshop.

October 30, 2013- “Cooperative Leadership” by Terry Cunconan, Dale Carnegie Institute
12:00pm, Union 236/238

Terry Cunconan, Dale Carnegie Institute Presenter, will speak on being a leader who identifies with those who follow you, being a leader of the people without the attitude
of being in charge.

November 6, 2013- “Forming One Heartbeat” by David Coleman
8:00pm, Hendricks Hall

National speaker David Coleman will be speaking on the importance of becoming a cohesive organization and working together for a common goal, and ways to accomplish
this.

November 19, 2013- “Stepping Up and Stepping Down” by Michelle Taylor
12:00pm, Union 236/238

Do you have members who you think have more potential than they are displaying?  What about older members who need to loosen the reigns a little? Michelle Taylor will
be talking about the importance of Officer Transition and the effects it can have on your organization.
