Alternate Spring Break (Breakers)
Spring Break can be a positive experience for students, combining fun and volunteerism in a healthy environment. Breakers is a student group looking for active leadership and involvement to promote the Alternative Break Program. Past spring break programs include Refugee Resettlement and Habitat for Humanity. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner families). Habitat Houses are sold to partner families at no profit, financed with affordable, no-interest loans. Volunteer work can also be done losally during the year as a member of the UCM Habitat for Humanity student organization. For more information call Kristie Brinkley at 660-543-4007. |
