Library Advisory Committee
I. FUNCTION
A. To advise the Dean of Library Services
B. To serve as liaison between Library Services and its constituencies
C. To review and recommend allocation of library materials
II. POSITION IN THE ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
Reports to the Dean of Library Services
III. MEMBERSHIP
A. Composition (10 members)
1. One faculty member from each college and L/AE
2. One undergraduate student member
3. One graduate student member
4. One member from Professional Staff Council
5. One member from Support Staff Council
6. Dean of Library Services (ex officio, non-voting)
B. Selection
1. Faculty members nominated by the FS Committee on Committees and confirmed by the Faculty Senate
2. Undergraduate student member selected by Student Government Association
3. Graduate student member selected by Graduate Student Association
4. Members to be selected by the Professional Staff Council and Support Staff Council
5. Dean of Library Services
C. Selection of Chair
Shall select a chair from its faculty membership
D. Term of Service
1. Faculty members-two years staggered (each college and L/AE will have staggered terms)
2. Student members will serve a one year term
IV. COMMENTS
Whenever possible, a second-year committee member should be selected as chair.
The committee chair is responsible for creating and maintaining a Procedures Manual, a copy to be kept in the Faculty Senate Office.
