Course Requirements for M.S. in Psychology

No more than 12 graduate hours taken as a non-degree student (i.e., one not officially admitted to the Psychology graduate program) may be applied to the MS in Psychology.The chair of the department must approve these graduate hours. All courses must also meet the time limits established by The Graduate School.

Students should be aware that most graduate courses have prerequisites. These prerequisites must be met before enrolling in the courses. In some situations, a prerequisite may be waived with the consent of the course instructor.

REQUIRED GRADUATE COURSES: 28-31 hours

Psy 5010 Thesis Preparation Seminar I - 1 (fall only)
Psy 5020 Thesis Preparation Seminar II - 1 (spring only)
Psy 5030 Graduate Thesis Process and Mentorship - 1 (fall only)
Psy 5140 Biological Bases of Behavior - 3 (spring only)
Psy 5150 Ethics & Professional Issues in Psy. - 3 (fall only)
Psy 5310 Personality - 3 (fall only)
Psy 5340 Social Bases of Behavior - 3 (spring only)
Psy 5410 Adult Psychopathology - 3 (spring only)
Psy 5520 Advanced Statistics for the Beh. Sci. - 3 (fall only)
Psy 5560 Individual Intelligence Testing - 4 (fall or spring depending on enrollment)
PSY 5990 Thesis - 3 to 6 (any semester)

ELECTIVES IN PSYCHOLOGY: 6-9 hours

MINIMUM TOTAL: 37 hours
