Each student must pass a comprehensive exam before completion of the program.The comprehensive examination requirement is satisfied when a student successfully completes a thesis defense.
Writing Proficiency Examination
Each student must pass a writing proficiency exam prior to filing a program of study. A score of 3.5 or higher on the Analytical Writing section of the GRE satisfies the writing proficiency exam requirement.
1. Students accepted into the program with an Analytical Writing score on the Graduate Record Exam of 3.5 or higher will have met the proficiency requirement.
2. Those accepted into the program with a score below 3.5 on the Analytical Writing portion of the GRE are required to meet with their graduate advisor and select an appropriate writing course offered through the Department of Academic Enrichment. When the student has successfully completed the course, the writing proficiency requirement is fulfilled.
