* Type II Supervisor Course 40-Hours plus 16 hours Instrument Training

YOU SHOULD ONLY APPLY IF YOU &/or YOUR DEPARTMENT
MEET THE FOLLOWING PREREQUISITES:

  1. You must be a P.O.S.T. certified law enforcement officer with a minimum of three years employment service as a law enforcement officer OR be a full time employee of a jail or detention facility.
  2. You must possess a valid Type III permit (Exception - the permit has expired within one year).
  3. Your Department owns one or more breath alcohol instruments.
  4. Your Department currently has less than two Type 2 Supervisors per instrument.

*Meeting these requirements does not guarantee enrollment.

This two-part course is designed to provide the Department of Health training required to maintain and administer breath testing at the local level. Part one (40-Hrs) covers the administration and maintenance issues of maintaining a breath instrument. Part two (16-Hrs) is the mandatory, instrument specific, certification for the Department-owned breath instruments.

Part two (16-Hrs) is scheduled once you are confirmed for enrollment in Part one (40-Hrs). Notification of the specific dates for Part two (16-Hrs) will be established in the second enrollment confirmation. All courses conducted in Warrensburg, MO at the Missouri Safety Center, 1200 South Holden unless otherwise indicated. P.O.S.T. credit is available for all full-time Missouri law enforcement officers. Tuition is waived for Missouri officers.

NOTE: Once accepted in the course, your Lab (16 hour Instrument Training) date will be scheduled and you will receive a confirmation, along with the Pre-Course assignment, via email, which must be completed and ready for review the first hour of day one, of the Type II Supervisor Course.

* Type II Regional Refresher Course 7-Hours

This refresher course, designed for officers who possess a valid TYPE II permit issued by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, will inform attendees of the latest holdings of Missouri's courts as well as, new statutes, regulations and developments that may affect the handling of DWI arrests. Attendees will gain a better understanding of the legal process of DWI cases and tools to help make their efforts more efficient. Other topics of discussion will include possible additions to Missouri's approved list of breathalyzer instruments, Type III standardized curriculum, a review of basic concepts and a look at what's new in the field of Breath Alcohol. P.O.S.T. credit is available for all full-time Missouri law enforcement officers. Tuition is waived for Missouri officers.

Prerequisite: Must possess a valid TYPE II permit issued by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

* Type III Operator/SFST 8 Hr. Course
32-Hours plus 4 hours (per instrument) Lab Training


If you have already had twenty-four (24) hours of SFST training but need an update on your SFST skills and want to obtain an Evidentiary Breath Testing instrument Type III permit from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Breath Alcohol Program (ONE * Instrument), then you need to click on this course for enrollment.

  • Note: you will not be limited to one instrument; but extra 4 hour blocks of instruction will be necessary if you expect to be trained on more than one instrument.

This two-part course provides specific training for field officers. Part one (32-Hrs) covers breath instrument operation, SFST (Refresher) and DWI law. Part two (4-Hrs) includes specific instrument certification. All courses conducted in Warrensburg at the Missouri Safety Center, 1200 S. Holden - unless otherwise indicated. P.O.S.T. credit is available for all full-time Missouri law enforcement officers. NOTE: This course includes an SFST Refresher only not a full SFST Course. Tuition is waived for Missouri officers.

All courses conducted in Warrensburg will be held at the Missouri Safety Center,
1200 S. Holden - unless otherwise indicated.

This Type III Operator course contains an 8 hour SFST refresher section only. Any officer who has not completed a NHTSA SFST training course (minimum of 16 hours) should refer to the SFST training course offerings on this site.
