Comer, Jenise
M. Jenise Comer, MSW, LCSW, ACSW (University of Kansas, 1974) Professor of Social Work. Professor Comer is the Director of the Social Work Program, and faculty advisor to the Sisters of Ujima. She received BA degrees in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Professor Comer has practice experience in adoptions, residential treatment, and individual and family therapy. Her research interests include social work licensure, foster parent training, program evaluation and consultation in the field of child welfare. She is a Peer Reviewer for the U. S. Children’s Bureau and Agency Serving Children, Youth and Families, a Master Trainer for the NASW and Lambda Legal Out of Home GLBTQ Youth Program, and a member of the MU Social Work Program Professional Advisory Committee. Professor Comer is a Site Visitor for the Council on Social Work Education, and was recently appointed to chair site visits. She has been appointed to the State Committee for Social Workers by three different governors, and served as Chair of the Committee for three consecutive terms.
