Support Staff Council Minutes
January 10, 2012
1:30 P.M. - UN 308
Attendees: Brenda Dooley, Cindy Merryfield, Diana Summers, Joyce Stephens, Suzan Brown, Keri Busker, Ginny McTighe, Tia Milburn, Bettie Moore, Jo Greife, Teri Bowman, Beth Rutt along with 2 interns – Heidi and Amy, and Ardith Sampson.
Welcome
Brenda Dooley, Support Staff Council President, called the January meeting to order. We each introduced ourselves and told where we work.
Minutes
Brenda asked if there were any corrections or additions to the December minutes. A correction was noted to correct Tia Milburn’s first name. Cindy Merryfield made a motion to approve the minutes with the correction. Bettie Moore seconded the motion. A voice vote was taken and the December minutes were approved.
Treasurer’s Report
Diana Summers, Treasurer, reported the Support Staff Council balance as $1,227.16 but noted that $275.18 is dedicated to the Outstanding Support Staff Award. The Support Staff Council Education Award has a balance of $804.48. The Survival Adult Abuse Center fund balance is $2,134.33. Brenda asked for any questions. Cindy Merryfield made a motion to approve the report. Bettie Moore seconded the motion. A voice vote was taken and the Treasurer’s Report was approved.
Administrative Liaison
On behalf of Dr. Sluder, Teri Bowman, Registrar’s Office, encouraged us to watch the Governor’s State of the State Address on Tuesday, January 17, at 7:00 pm. The University is anticipating a reduction of 10-12% of last year’s budget which amounts to a $7.5 million reduction.
Professional Staff Council Report
Beth Rutt did not have a report but also emphasized that we should watch the State of the State Address.
Committee Reports
No reports.
New Business:
Brenda relayed information from Bob Jackson about UCM Basketball Faculty/Staff Day on Saturday, January 14th at the UCM Multipurpose Building starting with the 1 pm Jennies game. Faculty/Staff and their family members will be admitted free of charge.
Other:
The Support Staff appreciation Breakfast is coming up in April. Vice President, Cindy Merryfield will contact remaining committee members to see if more volunteers are needed for the committee.
Brenda adjourned the meeting at 1:55 pm.
